Behind the wrought iron gate top with a sign, a few old wooden tables have been arranged in the courtyard of this long-standing yet restored house in Cancún. Bougainvillaea trees and other climbing plants cover the whole structure of the building. This rustic look is magnified by the use of oil lamps suspended by a cord, while the clear moonlight brightens the dishes a little further.
A large wood-framed blackboard hung on roughcast render displays the dailies, as well as available quantity of each dish. A few ingredients are farmed in the restaurant's own vegetable garden, as La Fonda del Zancudo highlights raw, fresh, local and often organic products. You may be able to try the Ensalada La Fonda, made of seasonal veggies, the homemade ravioli stuffed with plantain and goat cheese, or one of the signature fish carpaccios. An intimate atmosphere for a perfectly romantic dinner in Cancún.
